State of Disaster declared in Victoria
With a state of disaster declared in Victoria, and large parts of our beloved state on fire, I have been asked why, as leader of the Justice Party, I am not out and about visiting the devastated areas.
Good question. Simple answer. Premier Andrews, who is doing a great job, has asked us not to. It is a quandary: Do you turn up to show support for victims and comfort people or stay out of emergency services’ way? I certainly would not want to be accused of a ‘photo op’.
JP Upper House MP, Tania Maxwell, and staff have been collecting donated non-perishable goods at our Wangaratta office and distributing them.
Special thanks to Chemist Warehouse, Bunnings, Officeworks and Foodshare Wodonga for their generosity. And to you, the so-called “general public”, who again, like on Ash Wednesday and Black Saturday, show your soul. DH
